Come discuss some basics of keeping a newly acquired orchid happy and healthy! The talk will discuss the basic care of one of the most beloved orchids, the phalaenopsis orchid (moth orchid). Lori McDermott, Forest Hills Garden Club and Orchid Society of Western PA member, will explain how these beautiful orchids can survive, thrive and bloom in a Pittsburgh home.
About our presenter: Lori is a lifelong gardening enthusiast, who became enamored with orchids about 30 years ago. She lives in Forest Hills (since 1987) and belongs to the Forest Hills Garden Club as well as the Orchid Society of Western PA. Lori has been a member of the Orchid Society since 1995 holding many club positions and volunteer at the Phipps Conservatory helping with the many orchids in the Phipps grand orchid collection. She is employed at The Frick Pittsburgh as an educator and event coordinator.
